Panelists Discuss Significance Of Hispanic Heritage Month

AUSTIN, TX — To commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, the Flatiron School and Techqueria will host a panel discussion, "What Does Hispanic Heritage Month Really Mean?" which invites the community to celebrate and reflect on Hispanic heritage. Community leaders from several industries will discuss how the celebration has evolved within society and how each generation redefines its significance. Guests will have opportunities to ask the panel questions, as well.

The event scheduled Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6:30 p.m. will feature food, drinks, and plenty of opportunities for mingling, and will be held at 801 Barton Springs Road. Cafe Space is on the ground level and parking is available at attached garage.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed to recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the country's history, heritage and culture. Celebrated from September 15 to October 15., it was initially recognized at Hispanic Heritage Week and signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson; the commemorative week was expanded in 1988 to a month-long cebration and was then signed into law by President Ronald Reagan.
