A person was killed when an Austin CapMetro train struck them Wednesday afternoon near U.S. Highway 183 and Burnet Road.

AUSTIN, TX — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a CapMetro passenger train Wednesday afternoon in north Austin, according to police.
The crash occurred near U.S. Highway 183 and Burnet Road, according to the Austin Department of Transportation.
It's the 57th traffic fatality in the city this year, transportation officials said.

All northbound lanes of the Highway 183 access road, Research Boulevard, at the site of the crash are closed as Austin police investigate, according to authorities. Traffic is being diverted to Metric Boulevard.
