Police Chase Leads To Standoff In Downtown Austin
A woman barricaded herself at the South First Street bridge following a police pursuit before surrending two hours later.
AUSTIN, TX — A woman who barricaded herself in her car Tuesday morning following a chase ending at the South First Street bridge surrendered to a heavy police presence two hours later on Monday, according to reports.
The Austin Police Department said the Texas Department of Public Safety was handling the case. A heavy police presence was at the standoff scene as the woman barricaded herself in her car just after 10:35 a.m., as KXAN and other Austin media outlets reported.
The incident grew more tense when SWAT team member arrived at the scene, dispatching a robot to help breach the vehicle. The road was closed to traffic as the standoff was escalated, according to reports.

Two hours later, the standoff concluded after the woman exited her car in surrendering to police. It's unclear what prompted the police pursuit. The unidentified woman was taken into custody without incident, KXAN reported.
