Man Killed Outside East Austin Apartment Complex
Officers arrived at 2201 Willow Creek Drive where they found a man dead with trauma throughout his body; a blue SUV was seen fleeing.
AUSTIN, TX — A man was fatally shot at an East Austin apartment complex late Wednesday morning, police said.
Austin Police Department spokesperson Destiny Silva told reporters two men reportedly were arguing at 2201 Willow Creek Drive before one of them was shot just before 11:10 a.m. The shooting victim who was inside a car was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.
The police spokesperson said a blue SUV occupied by several people was seen leaving the scene, according to witnesses.

Silva said police know the type of weapon that was used in the shooting but declined to provide further details, citing the early nature of the investigation. "We do have that information, but there are details about this incident we are not going to release at this time to protect the integrity of this case," she said.

This marks the second time in as many days that police have responded to a so-called "suspicious death" in East Austin. Police used the same terminology in alerting to a call for service along the 6000 block of Manor Road just before 8 p.m. where they found a man in his 50s in his 50s on the ground. The shooting victim died at the scene despite life-saving measures by medics, an officer later told reporters.
