Police Seek Tips After Shot Fired At South Austin Building

An officer on patrol heard gunfire near his vehicle Pleasant Valley Road, before learning shots had been fired at a nearby building.

AUSTIN, TX — Police are seeking help from the public for information related to a deadly conduct incident that occurred earlier this month in South Austin, officials said Friday.

The incident dates to last Friday just after 1 a.m. along the 5300 block of Pleasant Valley Road, according to an advisory. Officials said an Austin Police Department patrol officer was parked in the area when he heard multiple gunshots fired toward his vehicle, according to the advisory. The officer rolled down the car windows while reporting ammunition rounds striking a building behind his location, police said.

After taking cover, officials said, the officer began to canvas the area once the gunfire subsided. The case was routed to the police department's Aggravated Assault Unit on Wednesday in launching an investigation that is ongoing, officials said.
