2 Dead In Hourslong Austin Standoff At Children's Medical Group
Local media outlets reported the victim was a pediatrician at Children's Medical Group, but police did not immediately release details.
AUSTIN, TX — Two people were found dead inside a Central Austin doctor's office after an hourslong standoff that ended late Tuesday, police said.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of West 35th Street, the Austin Police Department said about the situation that began around 4:30 p.m. The reported address corresponds to the location of the Children’s Medical Group.
The SWAT team was called to the scene once officers confirmed that a person was barricaded inside the building. At a news conference late Tuesday, police said they sent a robot unit inside the building and identified a victim through the robot's camera.

When SWAT officers entered the building, they found two people dead inside. Police said one of the people found dead inside the building was originally from inside the building and one was not.

Police said it was very early in the investigation but the homicide unit was taking over the investigation.
Officials added that further details would be shared on Wednesday.

Police did not immediately identify the victim or suspect.
According to multiple news reports loud bangs could be heard throughout the evening, but it was unknown if they were gunshots or noise flash distraction devices hurled by SWAT team members. Surrounding residents were evacuated as a safety precaution during the standoff, according to local media reports.
