Reward Offered In East Austin Fatal Shooting Case
Police on Wednesday were called to 2201 Willow Creek Dr. amid reports of shots fired before finding a man dead inside his car.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Monday released more details about a shooting that left a man dead outside an East Austin apartment complex on Wednesday, adding that a reward is now posted for information that could help crack the case.
Police on Wednesday, just before 11:10 a.m., were called to 2201 Willow Creek Dr. amid reports of shots fired, according to an advisory. Once there, officers found a green-colored, four-door car that had crashed occupied by a man in the driver's seat, according to the police account. The shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said in the advisory. Police have not identified the shooting victim save for saying he was Hispanic.
During the course of their investigation, police said, detectives learned three suspects had fled in a blue SUV. Police said they believe the suspects are believed to be connected to a series of armed robberies that had occurred throughout the day.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest, police said. Detectives urged anyone with information on the case to call them at (512) 974-TIPS, email homicide.apd@austintexas.gov, utilize the Crime Stoppers tip line at (512) 472-8477 (TIPS), or the Crime Stoppers app. Police stressed that those submitting tips have the option of remaining anonymous. Tips also can be submitted by downloading APD’s mobile app, Austin PD, free on iPhone and Android.

The incident marked the seventh homicide of 2021 in Austin.
