Series Of Talks Spotlight The Future Of Texas Cities
Texas Tribune to launch its Tenth Talks, a series of discussions outlining issues impacting Texas in the next ten years.
AUSTIN, TX — The Tenth Anniversary Tenth Talks, a series of talks by The Texas Tribune centering on the future of Texas in the next ten years, launches in Austin and invites the public to take part in this free event. The first Tenth Talk event will be recorded live with a small studio audience, and discussions about the future of Texas cities, ranging from land use and bike lanes to homelessness and housing, promise to promote dialogue within the community.
Happening Friday, Oct. 18 beginning at 12 p.m., Tenth Talks will include guest speakers including Natasha Harper-Madison, the Austin City Council member representing Austin’s District 1, the part of town where she was born and raised. Ms. Harper-Madison is the chair of the Health and Human Services Committee and sits on the Housing and Planning Committee, Judicial Committee, and Regional Affordability Committee. Beth Martin, Executive Director of Houston Bike Share, a nonprofit whose mission is to implement, expand and operate a Houston-based bike share program that is environmentally friendly, financially sustainable and affordable, will also be on hand to share her experience and expertise.
Also featured, Evan Taniguchi, an urban planner and principal/owner of Taniguchi Architects in Austin, and Eva Thibaudeau, CEO of the Temenos Community Development Corp. and a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the field of homelessness since 1996. Previously, she served as chief program officer for the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, where she oversaw a large reduction in homelessness in the Houston area.
