Sharing Is Caring Lets Neighbors Help One Another During Crisis
The Austin area non-profit online marketplace was created to help neighbors in need amid the coronavirus pandemic.

AUSTIN, TX —As coronavirus continues to spread across communities, and its economic impact is beginning to come into focus, Austin neighbors are coming up with strategies to help one another get through the public health crisis. A non-profit online marketplace platform called Sharing is Caring emerged as a way to make excess essential goods and supplies available for those who need it most. Neighbors in need of supplies can access the site to request help or to donate goods.
Sharing is Caring was created as a way to prevent goods from being wasted during this especially challenging time when so many face an uncertain financial future. An overarching goal of the platform is to help create a sense of community giving and philanthropy when social isolation is practiced. Categories of goods, products or services include:
• Food

In order to use the Sharing is Caring site, participants must sign up to post or review a listing or request for goods or products. Neighbors then coordinate a pick up or delivery in accordance with safety standards and practices in place preventing the spread of COVID-19 in community.
