Slick Roads Lead To Multi-Vehicle Collision In Round Rock
Stretch of State Highway 45 was closed early Saturday amid multiple wrecks in the area caused by roads left slick by freezing rain.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — A multi-vehicle crash in Round Rock early Saturday caused by slippery roads prompted the closing of lanes along a wide stretch of roadway.
All lanes were re-opened on State Highway 45 westbound from 130 to Interstate 35 after a collision involving multiple vehicles that resulted in an overturned truck at around 7:15 a.m. As police worked to clear the scene, traffic was detoured to the frontage road of A.W. Grimes Boulevard until the road stretch was reopened by around 8:30 a.m.
No details related to possible injuries were released.

The incident was one of several collisions resulting in hazardous conditions created by sleet and freezing rain that began on Friday. Elsewhere in Williamson County, a 10-car collision left two people critically injured overnight in Florence, some 30 miles north of Round Rock.

The traffic incidents in Williamson County and elsewhere yielded cautionary tales on the importance of careful driving on slick roadways. Throughout the day on Friday, emergency services officials warned motorists of hazardous road conditions, urging drivers to be extra vigilant for icy patches and reducing speed.
