Texans Can Invites Community To Donate For Families In Need
This Thanksgiving holiday, Texans Can is seeking assistance from the community to help campus families facing food insecurity.
AUSTIN, TX—As one in four families face food insecurity in Austin, the need to assist friends and neighbors in need is critical. As Thanksgiving approaches, Texans Can invites the community to donate non-perishable food items for students in need over the Thanksgiving break.
Encourage friends, family, and coworkers to collect items from November 11 through November 15 (or drop-off on Nov. 18). Participants may join by emailing Nina at nwinstead@texanscan.org, and those interested in making a monetary donation may do so by clicking HERE.
In 2019, campus staff and community leaders collected enough food for a family of four to enjoy a turkey or ham dinner with extra items for the week to meet the daily meals students normally receive while school is in session. In addition to handing out baskets, the Texans Can staff offers education and resources to families on ways to access aid in the community. For more information, click HERE.
