Texas Beats Oklahoma 24-17 In Red River Rivalry

Well, that was unexpected.

The Texas Longhorns took down the No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners 24-17 Saturday in the Red River Rivalry.

The Longhorns suffered late-game letdowns against Cal and Oklahoma State in consecutive weeks before getting boat-raced by TCU 50-7 last week.

Saturday, Texas and second-year coach Charlie Strong made a huge statement as 13-point underdogs to the Sooners in their annual rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl.

Texas outgained Oklahoma by nearly 100 yards and recovered a fumble.

Quarterback Jerrod Heard threw for 53 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 115 yards. Texas had 313 yards on the ground.

The Longhorns are now 2-4 on the year and 1-2 in the Big 12.
