AUSTIN, TX — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration Thursday for 17 counties affected by Winter Storm Landon.

The measure comes as the National Weather Service forecasts significant ice accumulation from the winter weather. The counties in the declaration are Bosque, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hopkins, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Navarro, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, and Williamson.

The winter storm deposited ice and snow on roads and caused power outages for about 70,000 households on Thursday morning.
