Travis County Coronavirus Count Crosses 15K Mark, 3 New Deaths
According to Austin Public Health, the number of respiratory illness cases rose by 657 on Monday from the previous 24-hour period.
AUSTIN, TX — The number of cases of the coronavirus in Travis County rose by 657 on Monday in a 24-hour period, rising to 15,445. Three more deaths were reported in the same time period, raising the historical fatality rate to 172.
Although 11,862 patients in Travis County have recovered from the respiratory illness since contracting the virus, 459 people are currently hospitalized — 151 being treated at intensive cares units and 86 placed on ventilators.

AUSTIN, TX — The number of cases of the coronavirus rose by 166 on Sunday, raising the historical rate of illness to 14,788. Another death was reported, bringing the fatality count so far to 169.
Over the weekend, nearly 500 more cases of the respiratory illness were logged by Austin Public Health officials, including 318 new cases on Saturday. According to the health district's statistical dashboard, 434 Travis County residents are currently hospitalized, including 151 being treated at intensive care units and another 87 placed on ventilators.

Health officials noted on the dashboard that 11,268 patients have recovered since contracting the illness-causing virus.

In his "Got a Minute?" segment broadcast regularly on social media to keep the public apprised of coronavirus developments, Austin Mayor Steve Adler expressed concern hospitals could be overwhelmed should the current illness trajectory continue. While making assurances of ample hospital space, Adler said other cities with greater rates of illness have inquired about using local resources.
City crews already have prepped the Austin Convention Centers as a de facto field hospital in anticipation of a potential patient surge, Adler previously confirmed.
