Travis County Gains 145 New Coronavirus Cases, 6 New Deaths
The number of new cases is the lowest since July 4, but the seven-day rolling average for hospitalizations is still close to the 70 mark.
TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — Travis County gained 145 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday, bringing the historical count to 17,791. Six new deaths from the respiratory illness were also reported, raising the fatality count to 209.
The number of new cases is the lowest since July 4 and hospital admissions were down to 43 per day — well below the 70 mark that could trigger a citywide shutdown. However, the seven-day rolling average of new hospitalizations is at 66 per day — "...very close to threshold, 70, where we’d consider moving to Stage 5," Austin Mayor Steve Adler wrote on Twitter.
There were 480 people hospitalized as of Monday, including 158 being treated at intensive care units and another 108 placed on ventilators to help them breathe.
