United WE’s Appointments Project® Announces Expansion To Austin
Program helps facilitate women to get appointed to civic boards and commissions at the city, county and state level.
AUSTIN, TX—In an effort to create increased opportunities for women to serve on local civic boards and commissions, Mayor Pro Tem Harper-Madison, Council Member Alter, and Mayor Adler are partnering with United WE to create clear pathways for leadership and service.
The Appointments Project®, founded in 2014 has worked to place more than 160 women on boards and commissions, including 18% women of color. The program was designed to improve gender diversity to civic boards and commissions which is a vital component of strengthened communities.
United WE’s Appointments Project® acts as a talent bank, advisor and advocate for women seeking leadership opportunities within communities, and increases the talent pool by attracting a more diverse group of applicants to for boards and commissions appointments. The initiative helps guide women through the application process for positions, and also helps with suggesting prospective applicants for appointment.
