¡Viva México! 2020 Celebrates México And Hispanic Heritage Month

The annual event goes virtual in 2020 and will offer a lineup of activities and performances celebrating México's Independence and heritage.

AUSTIN, TX — The community is invited to celebrate México with The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican-American Cultural Center (ESB-MACC) and it annual Viva México with a virtual event with music and dance performances by local Austin artists, hands-on activities for families to enjoy at home, and much more. The virtual celebration is offered free to community and will be live-streamed on Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter.

Scheduled Wednesday, September 16 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., actor and director Ron Salinas, founder of Aztlan dance, will be the Master of Ceremonies, delivering a live presentation of the various elements of the online festival. Audiences will enjoy a Ballet Folklorico lesson and performance, and visual art and poetry reading from artist Diana Molina/Juntos Arts Association. The Viva México 2020 celebration will spotlight the Grito, and explore what are some of the Gritos from communities in the year 2020?

ESB-MACC will partner with local organizations for a full week of activities and events related to Mexican Independence and Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month including:
