Hosted by the Wildflower Unitarian Universalist Church Climate Action Team, the community is invited to enjoy James Redford's powerful documentary about the dawn of the clean energy era as it creates jobs, turns profits, and makes communities stronger and healthier across the U.S.

Friday, Oct. 11 beginning at 7 p.m.

Carry the Remainder features the mixed-media work of Laura Caffrey and the digital collage work of Dave McClinton. Caffey uncovers the beauty in the intentionally discarded and the inadvertently abandoned and the effects time has on different materials. McClinton combines his love of photography, art and graphic design to create works that speak to the viewer through imagery that straddles reality and fantasy.

Mueller's Movies at Lake Park

Take in a beautiful fall evening with Mueller's free, family-friendly Movies at Lake Park. Guests will enjoy Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (animated version) at Mueller's outdoor amphitheater, with popcorn served at 7 p.m. and the movie starting at dusk. Snacks, blankets (no lawn chairs please) are welcome and free parking is available in the McBee Parking Garage near Simond Ave.

Sam Bass Community Theatre Presents Everybody Loves Opal

Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Sara DeSoto directs the story of Opal Kronkie, a middle-aged recluse, living in a tumbledown mansion at the edge of the municipal dump. The general disarray of her establishment is aggravated by the fact that Opal collects things—anything that can be toted home in her little red wagon. Opal is also an optimist, for no matter how mean her “friends”, Opal responds with unfailing kindness and an abiding faith in the goodness of human nature.

Black Star Co-Op Oktoberfest in Austin

Take advantage of the cooler temperatures and enjoy a one-of-a-kind Oktoberfest with Black Star Co-Op featuring plenty of traditional German food specials, a marine style beer release brewed entirely with Blacklands Malt, and a limited edition 0.5L branded glass boot! The food will include Schnitzel & Potato Salad, House-made Bratwurst, House-made Currywurst, German Pretzel; the beer will include Marzen style beer brewed exclusively with Blacklands Malt from Leander, TX and fermented with German lager yeast. Hispanic Heritage Artisan Mercado

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage with music, dancing, and shopping at the HOPE Farmers Market. Mercado vendors will display Latin-themed clothing, jewelry, shoes and crafts as well as paintings and drawings. The HOPE Farmers Market will offer fresh produce and delectable food items as well as a Mexican candy-making demonstration. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department, Mexic-Arte Museum and La Peña, Inc.
