Woman Dies After Austin Road Rage Shooting
A woman died after being shot the day after Christmas in a road rage incident as police continue to search for a suspect.
AUSTIN, TX —A woman died following what police described as a road rage shooting over the weekend, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Saturday just before 7:10 p.m. at Todd Lane and South Pleasant Valley Road, according to a police advisory. Arriving officers found a woman being tended by family members after being shot in a road rage incident, according to a police account. The woman was initially in critical condition after suffering life-threatening wounds before succumbing to her injuries, police said.
News of the woman's death came late Tuesday. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Miranda Gloria Lopez. Detectives are still canvassing the area of the incident while reviewing surveillance videos, police noted. A vehicle description was unavailable on Tuesday, and no further information was shared. The exact motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown, police added, but detectives believe neither the driver nor the shooter knew each other.

In a Tuesday evening update, detectives conveyed a desire to speak with a potential witness to the shooting that occurred near the round-a-bout at East St. Elmo and Todd Ln. Surveillance video depicts a dark red or maroon SUV, possibly Ford or GM, and would like to speak to the occupants of the vehicle who may have witnessed the shooting incident, police said in a news advisory.

Police on Wednesday released surveillance camera video showing the suspect vehicle and the vehicle with occupants who may serve as witnesses. The images were released following a news conference updating the status of a police investigation.
