Woman Struck, Killed By Car In South Austin Identified
Charlotte Dukes, 72, died nearly three weeks after being hit by a car along the 700 block of East Stassney Lane on July 10, police said.
AUSTIN, TX — Police this week identified the pedestrian who was killed in July after being struck by a car in South Austin.
The incident occurred on July 10 just before 7:30 a.m. along the 700 block of East Stassney Lane, according to police. Police learned a 2005, gray Honda Civic was traveling eastbound near Mira Lane when it collided with a pedestrian. Police noted the driver remained on the scene to cooperate with a police investigation, but it's unclear if any charges were filed.
The pedestrian was rushed to St. David's South Austin Hospital with life-threatening injuries before succumbing to her injuries on Thursday just after 4:45 p.m. She was identified as 72-year-old Charlotte Dukes.

The incident marked the city's 49th fatal traffic crash of 2020, officials said, resulting in 54 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 40 traffic fatalities.
