3rd Annual Babes Fest Coming To Austin
Interdisciplinary festival showcasing talents of women-identifying, non-binary artists across film, art, music and comedy starts Aug. 30.

AUSTIN, TX — The third annual Babes Fest — an interdisciplinary festival showcasing the talents of women-identifying and non-binary artists across the disciplines of film, art, music and comedy — is scheduled to be staged in Austin by month's end, organizers said Monday.
In a press release, the festival is described by organizers as "...three days of celebration, discovery and innovation." The event will be staged at various local venues from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, yielding proof that "...talent comes first, gender comes second, and equal opportunity remains of utmost importance," organizers wrote.
Babes Fest attendees can expect a spectacular and diverse music showcase lineup including artists, including the Afrofuturist hip hop/soul duo OSHUN, Brooklyn-based rap artist LATASHA, R&B/soul artist Alesia Lani, synth-pop band Night Glitter and many more.

Cinephiles can enjoy full length features including B.B. Arya’s 2017 film “We Are,” as well as a screening of shorts from a wide selection of filmmakers including Evelyn from The Internets and Brittany Reeber.
Also showcased will be a wide variety of installations from local artists throughout the three-day fest. New additions for 2018 include a mini craftHER Market pop up, BABES FEST Brunch and The Womanist Read-In, an experiential pop up library led by Emma Robinson of The Afiya Center, organizers noted.

Developed in collaboration with numerous local organizations including the East Austin multi-disciplinary event space, The Mall, the Motion Media Arts Center and Cheer Up Charlies, BABES FEST is born from collaboration and the greater sense of community, according to the press advisory
"Attendees can expect a thoroughly intimate and inclusive experience through panels with a number of the featured artists as well as many of Austin’s local community leaders," organizers wrote.

OPENING NIGHT
