Here are a few events happening around Austin to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Austin Firefighters Association’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony

Buford Tower, Cesar Chavez and Colorado
The Austin Firefighters Association will hold their annual memorial to remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 200l. This ceremony also incorporates a remembrance of Austin firefighters, active and retired, who have passed away in the last year. The ceremony will include the Austin Firefighter Honor Guard, Emergency Services Pipes and Drums Association and AFD Quint 1.

Austin Fire Department’s 9/11 Memorial Climb
9:30 a.m.
AFD Pleasant Valley Training Tower at 517 S. Pleasant Valley Drive
The public is invited to observe Austin firefighters pay tribute to the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives on Sept. 11 by climbing up and down the fire tower stairs until it equals the number of floors of the World Trade Center towers.Each participating firefighter will carry dog tags imprinted with the names of those firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.
