Album Review: TRIBE MAFIA “TEEPEE GANG”

The wait is finally over! After two years of only singles the infamous rap duo finally gives us a 8 Track LP. The “retirement,” Tribe Mafiais finally back (and better than ever!) with their long-awaited project Teepee Gang.
Released on March 13, 2020, Teepee Gang had fans waiting since 2018! The hip hop duo latest output consists of 8 tracks as well including the two fan pick tracks, “triple double” and “Still the same.”
On this album, Chinasa Broxton and Carlos Moore of Tribe Mafia lives up to their name, with their flow (on a majority of the tracks) being akin to a the teepee gang. Although their flow is fairly interchanging throughout the LP, its structure is consistent than pretty much all of their other projects. Triple double, ostracize, and follow me are very smooth with an melodic southern trap flow added to it. The rest of the tracks are very hype and
definitely meets mafia persona (a sound consisting of fast bars, loud as well as distorted production).

Right off the bat, the first track, “still the same,” really gets the listener excited for the album. It features an humble introduction of the teepee gang rappers telling the the listener to Teepee Gang, when they make it they will stay the same. This upbeat sound continues throughout the first, third, fifth, sixth and seventh track utilizing loud 808s, synths, and high tempos. In particular, Tribe Mafia puts on good performances during “Triple Double,” “Still the same” and “ostracized ,” teepee gang’ on beats that capture the mosh-pit college students attention with a sound that one would expect on Teepee Gang. Not only that, they spitting bars for the entirety of each track!
Some fans feel that the Teepee Gang Lp needs more songs for a two-year wait (we get it). Yet, Tribe Mafia does deliver guaranteed classics in their sound for. In our opinion TEEPEE GANG gets a 9/10, with the standout tracks being “FOLLOW ME ft. Leekthough ,” “TEEPEE GANG ft Sam Sage,” “Triple Double,” and “Ostracize ft. RJ Maine.” We look forward to reviewing Tribe Mafia next projects such as their Summer Dancehall Ep “It’s a Tribe Ting’.” And debut Album “Wampum.”
