Austin Airport Breaks Passenger Record
April 2018 marked a new monthly passenger record at local airport, with 1,324,938 passengers — up 17.8 percent from a year ago.

AUSTIN, TX — April 2018 marked a new monthly passenger record at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport with 1,324,938 traveling through, surpassing the previous record by 14,764 passengers, officials said Tuesday.
The previous record was set in July 2017 with 1,310,174 passengers, airport officials added. Here's the breakdown:
APRIL 2018

- Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for April 2018 was 1,324,938, up 17.8% compared to April 2017. April 2018 enplanements totaled 675,877, up 18.7%.
- Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 468,540, up 11.2% compared to April 2017;
- American Airlines passengers totaled 229,484, up 10.9%;
- United Airlines passengers totaled 199,182, down 0.1%;
- Delta Air Lines passengers totaled 179,468, up 26.0%;
- Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 95,447, up 189.6%;
- JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 48,247, up 5.5%;
- Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 46,289, up 123.8%;
- Allegiant Air passengers totaled 26,168, up 31.9%;
- British Airways passengers totaled 13,842, up 24.4%;
- Air Canada passengers totaled 3,835, up 0.7%;
- AeroMexico passengers totaled 3,473, up 8.9%;
- Norwegian Air passengers totaled 6,648;
- Volaris passengers totaled 1,236, up 6.3%;
- ViaAir passengers totaled 712; and
- Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 367.
CARGO
April 2018 air cargo totaled 15,165,071 lbs., down 8.4% compared to April 2017. International air cargo totaled 2,627,099 lbs., down 14.8%. Federal Express carried 7.8 million lbs., down 8.9%; and United Parcel Service carried 2.6 million lbs., up 13.6%.

- Air Services transferred 649,247 lbs. of mail, up 11.1%; and 1,616,186 lbs. of belly freight, down 5.3%.
- Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 4,345, down 3.6%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 18,144, up 8.6%.
JANUARY - APRIL 2018
- Passenger Activity: Total passenger traffic for January – April 2018 was 4,682,612, up 14.6%, compared to January – April 2017. January – April 2018 enplanements totaled 2,332,193, up 14.3%.
- Southwest Airlines passengers totaled 1,706,105, up 10.3%;
- American Airlines passengers 862,680, up 7.6%;
- United Airlines passengers totaled 699,977, up 5.5%;
- Delta Air Lines passengers 625,014, up 23.9%;
- Frontier Airlines passengers totaled 223,127, up 116.7%;
- JetBlue Airways passengers totaled 194,772, up 1.5%;
- Alaska Airlines passengers totaled 166,710, up 118.4%;
- Allegiant Air passengers totaled 100,139, up 37.3%;
- British Airways passengers totaled 45,213, up 11.1%;
- Air Canada passengers totaled 14,266, up 8%;
- AeroMexico passengers totaled 13,561, up 13.8%;
- Virgin America passengers totaled 11,117;
- Volaris passengers totaled 4,480, down 25.6%;
- ViaAir passengers totaled 3,872;
- Norwegian Air passengers totaled 8,367;
- Sun Country Airlines passengers totaled 1,647; and
- Scandinavian Airlines passengers totaled 697.April 2018 (January – April 2018) air cargo totaled 59,067,058 lbs., down 1.4% compared to April 2017.

CARGO
- International air cargo totaled 7,523,456 lbs., down 14.4%.
- Federal Express carried 32.7 million lbs., down 3%; and
- United Parcel Service carried 12.2 million lbs., up 20.3%.
- Air Services transferred 2,332,746 lbs. of mail, up 13.4%; and 6,197,198 lbs. of belly freight, down 6.8%.
- Aircraft Operations: General Aviation operations totaled 15,871 for January – April 2018, down 11.1%. Combined operations (including commercial and military) totaled 65,882, up 1.8%.
