Austin Police Arrest Serial Cigarette Burglar

Police have arrested a man for stealing cigarettes from businesses across Austin.

Daniel Lopez Martinez, 43, was arrested for stealing cigarettes from businesses across the city, Austin Police said Monday.

He has been charged with two counts of burglary of a non-residence, a state jail felony, and could be facing more charges as the investigation continues, police said.

Martinez allegedly broke into 11 businesses by breaking the front glass door or window and “immediately targeting the cigarette display inside the store.”
