Austin Resident Launches Fetch! Pet Care Business

Fetch! Pet Care, America’s largest franchised provider of professional dog walking and in-home pet sitting services, is bringing its experienced, caring sitters to East Austin and nearby communities, such as Round Rock, Hutto, Elgin, and Manor.

Lifelong Austin resident Leigh Dunson is pleased to announce the launch of Fetch! Pet Care East Austin. With a focus on exceptional service and reliable care, she offers a range of services for furry, feathered, and scaly family members, including puppy check-ins, private dog walking, pet sitting, overnight care, and pet transportation.

“Growing up, we always had animals, from cats and dogs to pigs and goats to fish and gerbils, so I understand why people consider their pets to be part of the family,” said Dunson. “Our team recognizes the responsibility we have to our clients and makes sure all pets are not only safe and exercised, but feel loved.”

Prior to launching Fetch!, Dunson enjoyed a longtime career with Mary Lee Foundation, an organization that serves adults with special needs. In 2020, she considered becoming her own boss and began researching franchise opportunities that would combine her professional skills and her love for animals. She learned about Fetch! and quickly realized it was an ideal fit.

Dunson fosters animals through the Austin Animal Center and Pug Rescue of Austin. During the past 11 years, she has fostered 16 dogs and dozens of kittens before helping to ensure they find their forever homes. She is currently fostering a 13-year-old pug named Tubby.

Dunson hand-picks and trains each dog walker and pet sitter on her team. Each pet care provider is bonded, insured, background-checked, and has specialized skills in caring for dogs, cats, birds and other small caged animals. To establish a relationship between the Fetch! team member and the prospective client, and to ensure a good fit for all, Dunson offers a free consultation.

Clients are encouraged to utilize the company’s mobile app for scheduling and communicating with team members. The app includes features such as GPS tracking to enable clients to locate their animal during a walk and a journal for the sitter’s notes, photos and more.
