Blue Cat Cafe Seeks 'Intergalactic Harmony' -- And To House Some Cats
Cat fanatics, your dream restaurant is on its way.

Blue Cat Cafe, Austin’s first cat-dedicated cafe (blue or otherwise), is opening soon with a mission: “To unite humankind and catkind in everlasting, intergalactic harmony.”
That’d be quite the cat’s meow.
The feline stars of the cafe arrived from the Austin Human Society this week so they can adjust to their new surroundings before, hopefully, having to adjust to even newer surrounds soon: All the cafe’s felines will be up for adoption.

Aside from cats, there will also be coffee and an on-site vegan truck serving substitute meats from BBQ Revolution.
While there’s comfortable seating for human patrons, Blue Cat has made sure to include all kinds of amenities for its feline visitors when it opens Friday (Oct. 16). A kitty superhighway lines the walls, musical instruments serve as cat beds, and there’s a giant cat tree as well.

Owner Rebecca Gray launched her Kickstarter campaign in February to raise funds for a cat cafe after being inspired by smaller projects in California and Canada. She picked up extra side cash by pedicabbing during SXSW and throwing a lot of cat parties. After fully funding the project in April, she found the cafe’s home on the east side.
