Don't Be Alarmed: Austin Airport Testing Fire Alert System
In preparation for an upcoming fire marshal test, fire alarms will be intentionally set off starting Tuesday through Nov. 5, officials said.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Don't be, well, alarmed if you are near the airport in the coming days and hear emergency alarms blaring. It's only a test.
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will be conducting tests of its fire alarm system over the course of five days starting at midnight tonight. The alarm testing begins on Oct. 30 at midnight through Nov. 5, from midnight to 3 a.m., airport officials said.
"The fire alarm tests are scheduled at times to avoid high traveler traffic," airport officials wrote in a an email to Patch. "The tests are conducted to ensure the safety of travelers and employees in the event of a fire emergency."

To ameliorate the potential for panic, signs informing travelers and employers of the fire alarm testing will be posted in advance, according to airport officials. The Austin airport fire alarm system testing is scheduled at the following dates and locations:
- Concourse Level – Oct. 30 – Nov. 2 at midnight – 3 a.m.
- Baggage Level – Nov. 5 at 3 a.m. – 6 a.m.
The testing is being conducted in preparation for a Fire Marshal Test to be take place at a later date, airport officials said. This is the second time in a week that the airport has conducted such tests. Previously, alarms were tested at the travel hub starting Oct. 24.
