Driver Identified in Fatal Southeast Austin Crash

The two-car collision injured the other driver.

Mary Schettler Bourland, 68, died at University Medical Center-Brackenridge after being involved in a two-car collision in Southeast Austin. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, two vehicles collided around 4 p.m. at the 1600 block of East Slaughter Lane near Onion Creek.

According to state Trooper Robbie Barrera, a Kia was driving out of the River Ridge Estates apartment complex and did not see the 1996 Ford LXE pickup truck driving in the left lane. The Kia pulled out in front of the truck and the truck hit the Kia.

The Kia driver sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
