Executive Chef Tapped For New East Austin Eatery 'Suerte'

Fermín Núñez, a former chef de cuisine at Launderette who has also worked at La Condesa and Uchiko, will serve it up at new eatery.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Barley Swine and Odd Duck partner chef Sam Hellman-Mass previously announced the opening of his Mexican restaurant Suerte in East Austin later this year, and on Wednesday announced the appointment of an executive chef, according to a report.

Hellman-Mass told the Austin blog Austin360 he'd be joined in the kitchen at his new place by executive chef Fermín Núñez, a former chef de cuisine at Launderette, who has also worked at La Condesa and Uchiko.

The executive chef will help guide a kitchen dedicated to making masa in house, he told the blog, and will create cuisine “inspired by his memories of growing up between north Mexico and south Texas and his travels in Mexico and around the world.”
