Manor High Football To Hold Moment Of Silence For Student Killed In East Austin Crash

The teen was killed in a single-car crash on Tuesday.

The Manor High School Mustangs will hold a moment of silence during the final game of the regular season in honor of Lance Thomas, a teen killed in car crash Tuesday morning.

“The agenda includes the team’s senior-night celebration followed by a moment of silence and a balloon release in honor of Lance Thomas, the Manor ISD senior who passed away in a car wreck Tuesday morning,” Manor Director of Communications, Public Relations, and Policy Abby Chalmers told Patch in an email. “Additionally, the team is asking that everyone wear a red ribbon in Lance’s honor on Friday.”

According to police, a black 2014 Kia Sedan was traveling westbound on the 9700 block of East Hwy 290 Service Road on Tuesday. For an unknown reason, the car drifted off of the road, struck a grass embankment and flipped.

“Lance lost his precious life too early and his family is in need of assistance to give him a proper burial,” Swain wrote on the page. “Because of the bond I had with this student and his family, I feel that it is my duty to help in some type of way.”

Pre-game activities will begin at 6:45 p.m. on Friday at the Manor Athletic Complex.
