Bctheicegod:

I was born in Las Vegas, NV and grew up in San Marcos/Austin Texas.

What high school did you go to?

Bctheicegod:

San Marcos High School

How did you get into music?

Bctheicegod:

Music runs deep from both sides of my family. My grandfather from my mothers side, Chet Forest (Filozof), played the drums in Marvin Gayes hit "What's Going On". My father Bennie Cherry Sr. is a former Lead Vocalist from the legendary Soul Group "The Flamingos" and was featured in the 1985 Grammy Awards. After growing up watching my Father perform shows all over Las Vegas, I knew pretty young what I was put here to do until I moved to Texas. I then found a strong love for the game of basketball and played relentlessly all the way to college. I left music alone for a while and became a well known battle rapper in middle school, known as " Lil'BC .

It wasn't until Junior year that I decided to play with this app on my phone called "Garage Band" where eventually I taught myself how to record, produce and engineer on my own that whole summer of 2015. On the first day of my senior year, I dropped a 5 track mixtape on soundcloud rapping about my struggles in hoop dreams and the whole school went crazy. When basketball season came around, The team manager added my songs to the warm up playlist when we came out. I still didn't take it seriously because I was fully committed to becoming the best basketball player ever and anything taking my mind off that was a distraction.

I didn't really get back into music until I was about to graduate and I started writing again, except this time, It really turned me on. My natural Cadence and Writing skills after not touching music for so long realigned me with my true purpose in life and ever since I graduated from college hoops I've been pursuing music with full force.

Are you Independent? Have any Labels tried to sign you?

Bctheicegod:

Since my very first year doing music professionally, I've had many signing opportunities with both major and independent labels. The very first Label to reach out to me was Coach K with Quality Control Music in 2019. The Vice President of Universal called me during my day job and told me to pack my bags and be ready when they call to fly out. It all sounded good until I got to the airport and Coach K tried to make me pay for my flight. To this day I remain 100% independent with my own label and am only interested in a partnership if I'm considering business with any company.

Who do you make music for? Who's your audience?

Bctheicegod:

My music is for everybody, I rap, I sing and I turn up. My music will show you that I'm too versatile to put in a genre box, But if we talking my target audience, it's the Ice Breakers, people who are motivated to become the best versions of themselves and are devoted to overcome every limit society has placed in their mind. People who are not afraid to live it up and dominate their path! I love them.

Who are some your greatest inspirations in rap?

Bctheicegod:

Tupac has always been a real model of everything I want to achieve as an artist, from the messages in his lyrics, to his wisdom and ability to spark minds of listeners. I can relate to his fearlessness and mission to change the world.

Meek Mill been my favorite artist since I came across Dream Chasers..

his style is Ill and his motivating energy always made me wanna flex on everything coming against me.

Damian Lillard (DAME DOLLA)

I already was a fan that studied him as a basketball player, but seeing him dominate the NBA and then embrace his rap ability to then hit the billboard charts after his rookie year was a dream come true for me, it was almost like he opened the door to music back up for me when I was once so lost in my craft for hoops.

Z-Ro

Growing up in Texas and being a Real N*gga I could relate to what he talks about, been talking about in his music. Z-Ro introduced me to the Dirty South Culture and some of the things I learned from him I still carry with me to this day.

Kevin Gates

Like Gates, I've been abused by friendships and grimy people in my life. Because of that I became a monster too and He showed me how to embrace my feelings, find peace and not be too hard for myself in order to prosper.

Briefly discuss your Music Process:

Bctheicegod:

First I have my producers (Swagg B, DJ Watchman) send me beats..

I run through them and after my listening session I go to the ones that moved me the most in that moment. It has to be 100% natural, I cant force anything. If I feel something, I begin writing... After I finish, I'll rehearse and hammer the song in my head for weeks until I know it word for word without the pad.

Once I'm ready, I book my studio session and begin to lay down my hooks, verses and ad libs as perfect they can possibly be. I come to a close, My Engineer and I will go back and listen to see if anything needs to be punched in. My music is then mix and mastered to its final product to be released to the fans.

What are your greatest accomplishments as a music artist?

Bctheicegod:

Designing my brand logo for Team Froze

Opening up for Lil Flip, Slim Thug and Z-Ro.

Getting over 2,000 radio spins in the U.S...

In my second year, getting my first Plaque for A million Streams on Spotify on my Debut Mixtape Froze Volume 1.
