More Luxury Apartments Are on the Way in East Austin

The new project will add to the rapidly changing East side area.

Construction workers broke ground on an apartment complex that will bring 339 luxury units to the East Riverside Drive area.

Oden Hughes, an Austin based developer, is building a five-story Lenox Boardwalk project at South Pleasant Valley Road and Elmont Drive. El Gran Mercado, a Mexican market, is being demolished to make way for the project, which is set to open in April 2017.

According to the Statesmen, most units are expected to rent between $1,100 and $2,500 a month. Seventeen units will be set aside for households making no more than 60 percent of Austin’s median family income, or $3,070 a month for a family of two. The below-market units will start at $800 a month for an individual and increase with household size, vice president of development with Oden Hughes Howell Beaver told the paper.
