Police Identify Victim of Deadly East Austin Car Crash

The victim struck two trees at about 4 a.m. on Saturday.

The Austin Police Department has identified the victim of a deadly car crash in East Austin on Saturday morning.

Christian Xavier So was just 18 years old, APD said. He is Austin’s 73rd fatal traffic crash and the 81st fatality of 2015. At this time in 2014, there were 39 fatality crashes and 46 fatalities.

The crash happened on Saturday around 4 a.m.

“The preliminary investigation shows that a blue 2001 Buick LaSabre was southbound on Decker Lane. The Buick left the roadway and struck two trees,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The driver, who was the sole occupant of the Buick, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
