Police Give All Clear in East Austin Bomb Scare

The Austin Police Department says a suspicious item was reported.

The Austin Police Department gave the all clear after investigating a possible bomb threat on the 2200 block of Garden Street in East Austin on Monday.

A suspicious item was reported in the area, but was found to be “non-explosive.”

The call came in around 10:57 a.m., Austin Police spokeswoman Anna Sabana told Patch. She said there were a few street closures nearby and Metz Elementary school has been notified about the threat.

The school was under a shelter in place situation. That has since been lifted.

Garden Street at Robert T. Martinez, Jr. Street was closed and Anthony Street was closed both northbound and southbound, police said.
