Social Media Threat Grounds Atlanta-To-Austin Flight
Delta Airlines officials confirmed Flight 2234 was delayed after threat, with passengers transferred to another aircraft as cautionary step.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — A Delta flight scheduled to fly into Austin from Atlanta was delayed Wednesday following a threat posted on social media, according to reports.
Delta Airline officials confirmed the flight delay to media outlets late Wednesday, including to Spectrum News Austin. In an abundance of caution after the threat was issued, airline officials moved passengers to another aircraft, officials said.
The flight to Austin was originating from Hatsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta before the threat grounded its flight. As of late Wednesday evening, the significantly delayed airplane had yet to land in Austin.

"Flight 2234 was delayed Wednesday evening due to a threat issued via social media," Delta officials confirmed in a prepared statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, the aircraft was taken out of service prior to boarding for a security search by law enforcement."
Neither Delta nor police officials have specified the nature of the threat.
