Journalists are involved in writing, producing, and presenting print, digital, and broadcast news, entertainment, and music programming. In the Army National Guard, these duties are generally performed by the Public Affairs Specialist. The Public Affairs Specialist participates in and assists with the supervision and administration of public affairs programs through news releases, newspaper articles, Web-based material, and photographs for use in military and civilian news media. Public Affairs Specialists learn how to research, prepare, and distribute news releases, gather information for news programs and publications, develop ideas for news articles, conduct interviews, and write news releases, feature articles, and editorials.
