One woman died in a multiple vehicle pileup on U.S. Hwy 290 eastbound between Manor and Elgin, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS.
Four vehicles were involved in the collision. The accident happened around 4:52 p.m. on Friday in the 14800 block of Hwy 290 east. A tow truck that was transporting one vehicle hydroplaned while driving westbound and hit an oncoming vehicle, killing the woman inside, police said.

The deceased woman was identified as 65-year-old Carol Voutsainas of Elgin. A total of five patients were involved in the accident, including Voutsainas. Two adults refused patient care, and two others were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to ATCEMS. According to TxDOT, eastbound 290 was closed at FM 1100 due to the crash. It has since reopened.
