Former President George H.W. Bush Discharged From Hospital

Just in time for the Super Bowl, the elder statesman joins his wife at their Houston home.

HOUSTON, TX – It took him two and a half weeks, but former president George H.W. Bush has recovered from a bout of pneumonia and was discharged today from Houston Methodist Hospital. He underwent surgery to remove a blockage from him lung during his stay in the hospital

"He is thankful for the many prayers and kind messages he received during his stay, as well as the world-class care that both his doctors and nurses provided," a family spokesman said in a statement.

Bush, 92, and his wife, Barbara, were both admitted to the hospital and treated for respiratory problems. The former first lady was discharged last week.

The couple reside in Houston. Bush was the 41st president of the U.S. and was also a U.S. senator and the director of the CIA. He suffers from a form of Parkinson's disease and uses a wheelchair.
