George H.W. Bush Back In Hospital

The former president, 92, was admitted on Friday and diagnosed with a mild case of pneumonia.

HOUSTON, TX — George H.W. Bush is undergoing treatment at Houston Methodist Hospital for pneumonia, the former president's spokesman, Jim McGrath, said in a statement on Tuesday. Bush's condition "was treated and has been resolved," McGrath added. "President Bush is in very good spirits and is being held for further observation while he regains his strength. He is already well on the path to recovery and going home.”

Bush, 92, is the nation's oldest living ex-president; he served a single term in the White House, from 1989 through 1992. He is the father of former President George W. Bush, who served two terms in the White House, from 2001 through 2008.

Bush was admitted to the hospital on Friday because a cough had been preventing him from getting proper rest, said McGrath. He was later diagnosed with pneumonia. Bush was treated for the same ailment in January and spent some time in intensive care during that stay.
