Harvey Recovery Gets John Sharp Oversight As Commissioner Per Gov. Abbott: Video

HOUSTON, TX — Texas Governor Greg Abbott tabbed John Sharp as commissioner to lead an effort to begin rebuilding the state from infrastructure to the economy. Harvey made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Rockport and dumped more than 50 inches of rain in several places in both the Houston and Beaumont areas.

"Today I announce the restoration plan to rebuild the great state of Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey," Abbott said, with Sharp to his left and National Guardsmen behind him. "This includes the creation of the Governor's Commission To Rebuild Texas, and the announcement of John Sharp as commissioner to lead the effort to rebuild the communities that have been affected by this catastrophic storm."
