Houston Radio Host Matt Patrick Decides To End His Cancer Treatments
The popular AM radio personality, who was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2015, has "exhausted all options."

HOUSTON, TX — His voice, attitude, and opinions have been ringing out over the airwaves for years now on 740 KTRH, talking to his audience about topics both personal and global. Wednesday was the sixth anniversary of his arrival at the AM station here, and he chose the day to announce something very personal: He was ending his cancer treatments.
"On Houston's Morning News this morning, Matt revealed he has exhausted all options and has discontinued cancer treatments," the station's Facebook page read. "Matt and all of us at NewsRadio 740 KTRH, and the iHeartMedia family, thank you all for your constant love and support during this difficult time."

Patrick's disease, an aggressive form of esophageal cancer, has affected his voice, but not his passion for and devotion to his job. As reported by the Houston Chronicle, when treatments for the cancer prevented him from working in the station, he would do his show from a home studio.

Patrick was scheduled to appear on Michael Berry's KTRH show on Wednesday morning, but was too tired to talk, according to Berry.
