HOUSTON, TX — A man convicted of stealing $5,228 worth of electronics and tobacco products from the Walmart Supercenter on Silber Road that was closed during Harvey Harvey was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday.
On Aug. 29, 2017, three days after Harvey made landfall and just as the rain moved away from Houston, a Houston police officer saw a Ford van at the Walmart that appeared to have been used to smash open a cart doorway, as well as Thomas Gamelin, 38, carrying a TV. Police said the looting was also caught on surveillance video.
In addition, officials say Gamelin was on parole for a drug conviction at the time of the looting.
