Kiran's is Back: Beloved Indian Restaurant Reopens in New Location

Chef and owner Kiran Verma is back in the kitchen after an 11-month absence.

HOUSTON, TX — The scent of chicken tikka masala and green mango curry are once wafting coming from the kitchen of one of Houston's favorite restaurants.

Kiran's has reopened, in a new location on Richmond Avenue, and judging by the crowds over the weekend diners are welcoming chef and owner Kiran Verma with open arms (and palates).

The restaurant closed its Westheimer doors last year — construction and landlord issues were cited as the cause — and announced plans to reopen in a new development, called Levy Park, on Richmond Avenue. The process was completed late last week, and Verma is back in action.

Expect plenty of curries, including chicken Madras and kadhi chawal (turmeric-spiced yogurt with onion and spinach dumplings), and some new items.

“In the last nine months, myself and my team have been designing, creating and executing a menu that reflects a thoughtful approach to an elevated Indian dining experience, keeping texture, flavor, color and lightness in mind,” Verma said in a statement.
