HOUSTON, TX — Sangria is never a bad idea. It's refreshing, cool, delicious, and it contains alcohol. A pitcher shared with friends on a sunny afternoon is a perfect way to spend some time talking, laughing, and planning what to have for dinner. The drink's origins are not know with certainty, though the theory that its names derives from the Spanish word for blood is plausible. No matter the etymology, sangria is a favorite the world over, for good reason.

A lot of places in Houston serve the wine-based beverage, and many of them do it well. But how do you know where to go? Here's a look at the top six sangrias in the Houston area, as determined by Yelp! users.
