Six Flags To Remove Confederate Flag And All Others Except American Flag

The famous amusement park originally planned to keep the Confederate flag but now will fly six American flags

The six flags that have flown over the state of Texas have been a staple at the Six Flags Over Texas Amusement Park since it opened in 1961. Now, the park will remove the Confederate flag along with the flags of France, Spain, Mexico and the Republic of Texas, and the park will display six American flags.

According to a report from WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth, the park received criticism after flying the Confederate flag after last week's clash between white supremacists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"We always choose to focus on celebrating the things that unite us versus those that divide us," Six Flags spokeswoman Sharon Parker said in the report. "As such, we have changed the flag displays in our parks to feature American flags."
