Hosted this year by TCC Southeast, the district’s annual “Abrazando al Exito” (Embracing Success) event will be held on Oct. 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 2100 Southeast Parkway. This year’s theme is “La Lucha y La Cutura,” with Jose Angel Gutierrez, professor emeritus of political science and founder of the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas-Arlington, serving as this year’s keynote speaker. He will discuss the roles of Latina/o/x activism and civil rights movements in the past and present, how to become involved in contemporary civil rights activism, and advice for future activists.  The core ensemble Tres Viads will  perform during the event.

TCC South, 5301 Campus Drive, will host HHM: Latin Dance Night on Sept. 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Student Center (SSTU). This event will feature free dance lessons, live music, live performances and refreshments. Attendees can practice their salsa, merengue or bachata skills in a welcoming environment.
