TCC : TCC Celebrates African American Heritage Month

Tarrant County College’s 2022 African American Heritage Month celebration features a series of events that recognize the contributions, history and accomplishments of Black people around the world. Many of the events are free to students and the general public.

Dallas Black Dance Theatre will perform live at TCC South on February 16 at 1 p.m., highlighting several works that honor Black History Month.  This free performance, which is open to the public, will take place in the Student Center (SSTU).

On February 18 at 9:30 a.m., TCC Trinity River will host “Played Out: The Man in 21st Century,” featuring Brandon Manning, author and TCU professor. Manning will examine how Black satirists create vulnerability to highlight the inner emotional lives of Black men. This event will be held in the Energy Auditorium on the 4th Floor.

On February 24 at 5:30 p.m., TCC will host its annual celebration of Black history and culture, Celebrating Strides, at TCC Northwest. Themed “The Power of the Pivot: Thriving in the Midst of Uncertainty,” this year’s event will feature keynote speaker Leah King, president and CEO of United Way Tarrant County.  King will discuss civic engagement and how students can continue to serve the community.
