Houston Freeway Shooting Leaves 2 Dead; Suspect At Large
Police said the shooting happened at I-10 East Freeway just before 6 p.m.

HOUSTON, TX — Police are searching for a shooter accused of opening fire and killing two people in broad daylight on I-10 in Houston.
Houston police were called to the scene just before 6 p.m. at Federal Road. At a press briefing broadcast via Periscope, Houston police said two cars were going eastbound on the freeway when one car struck another and caused it to spin out.
The two occupants in the car that struck the second vehicle got out and at least one of the occupants had a weapon that he began shooting. Police said the shooter followed the car that was spinning out down the hill, firing rounds and fired into the front windshield when it came to a stop, killing both occupants inside.

Police said narcotics were found in the car but did not speculate on a motive. On Friday, police provided a description of the suspect. Witnesses described the man as a five-foot-seven Hispanic man possibly in his early 20s with a thin build and wearing a red shirt, police said. The car that the suspect fled in was only described as a newer model, dark colored four door sedan, with unknown license plates.
A witness in another car saw the suspect turn towards him and used a pistol he had in his car to fire at the suspect, police said. It was unclear if the suspect was struck, but it caused him to run back to his car and flee the scene, according to police.

The gun used in the shooting was described by witnesses to be similar to an AR-15.
Any witnesses were urged by police to come forward. Anyone with information can call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Police said the part of the East Freeway where the shooting happened will be closed for several more hours.
