HOUSTON -- Three men who police said gunned down a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday night are charged with capital murder. Jashon Freeman, 18, Jacorey Randolph, 19, and Albert Edmond 18, are all charged in the death of Bryan Escalante.

Police said Escalante got into a fight with one of the men in the parking lot of the Innsbruck-Lemoynes Apartments in the 4600 Sherwood Lane.

The three men told investigators they were meeting Escalante to buy drugs. One of the men said Escalante put his hand in his pocket and acted like he had a gun, and turned and walked away.

That’s when one of the men shot Escalante several times in the back before taking his wallet and cell phone, police said. The three men drove away in a black BMW.

Police who responded to a report of a shooting a few minutes later found the 15-year-old dead when they got to the scene. Witnesses told police they heard the gunshots and saw the black BMW speeding out of the parking lot.

Police sent out a description of the car and a short time later, the black BMW was pulled over by a Spring Valley Police officer on a traffic violation. According to a statement from the Houston Police Department, the three men were identified and arrested.

Police searched the car after the traffic stop and found six grams of marijuana, 20 Xanax pills, five cell phones, several spent shell casings and bloody clothes, officials said.

The three men went before a judge on Friday and are being held in the Harris County Jail without bond.
